A Boeing 767 cargo aircraft operated by Prime Air has reportedly overrun a runway at Miami International Airport (MIA) in Florida, according to aviation platform FL360aero.
FL360aero reported the incident in a post on X on Sunday, saying emergency response crews were at the scene.
“Details regarding possible injuries, aircraft damage and the circumstances of the incident remain unclear as the situation develops,” the platform said.
The reported incident occurred as the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) imposed a temporary inbound ground stop at Miami International Airport due to runway and surface constraints.
According to the FAA’s Air Traffic Control System Command Center, the restriction was in effect from about 2:02 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. EDT on Sunday.
The FAA subsequently listed a traffic management programme for flights arriving at the airport due to a “RWY-TAXI / DISABLED AIRCRAFT.”
It said departure traffic destined for Miami International Airport would not be allowed to depart until 3:00 p.m. EDT.
The FAA said arriving flights were experiencing airborne delays of 15 minutes or less.
While reports of a possible cargo aircraft runway overrun circulated on social media, official details regarding the incident, including possible injuries or damage to the aircraft, remained unclear as of the latest update.
