Armed bandits have attacked farming communities in the Birnin Gwari area of Kaduna State, killing several farmers and leaving others injured or abducted.
The attackers reportedly targeted farms in Dunya and Shado communities in Kuyello Ward while farmers were working on their fields.
A source in Birnin Gwari told SaharaReporters that the attacks forced farmers to “flee the affected areas” amid fears of further assaults.
The exact number of people killed in the attacks could not be immediately confirmed.
Several others were reportedly injured or taken away by the attackers, although details of the number of people abducted were also unavailable as of the time of filing this report.
The latest attacks have heightened concerns over the safety of farmers in Birnin Gwari, an area that has continued to face attacks by armed groups.
Further details will be provided as they become available.
On September 9 and 10, 2026, troops from the Joint Task Force arrested a suspected terrorist kingpin, a logistics supplier, and intercepted an ammunition courier carrying 300 rounds of ammunition along the Birnin Gwari axis.
Security forces confiscated communication devices and radio equipment linked to planned attacks on local residents during these targeted operations.
Efforts by SaharaReporters to reach the state police command’s spokesperson, DSP Mansir Hassan, on his mobile phone for comment had not yielded any response as of the time of this report.
