The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has denied a notice making the rounds on social media directing the 50,000 prospective Police Constable recruits to report for training on September 18, 2026, describing the notice as fake and urging the recruits to disregard it.
The Force, in a disclaimer issued on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, amid the ongoing recruitment exercise, said the purported notice did not originate from the police and should be disregarded.
The police urged all prospective trainees to rely only on information published through their respective recruitment portals and the Force’s official communication channels.
The disclaimer read, “The Nigeria Police Force has observed a publication circulating on social media purportedly emanating from the Force, directing prospective Police Constable recruits to report for training on 18th September 2026.
“The Nigeria Police Force wishes to state that the said publication is not an official communication of the Force and should be disregarded.
“All prospective trainees are advised to rely solely on information communicated through their respective recruitment portals and the official communication channels of the Nigeria Police Force for verified and authentic updates regarding the recruitment and training exercise.
“Members of the public are equally urged to refrain from circulating unverified information capable of causing confusion or misleading prospective recruits.”

The warning comes as the Nigerian government proceeds with the large-scale recruitment of 50,000 Police Constables into the Nigeria Police Force.
President Bola Tinubu ordered the recruitment in late 2025 as part of measures to address insecurity and strengthen the manpower of the police.
The Police Service Commission (PSC), which is overseeing the recruitment exercise in collaboration with the NPF, opened the application portal for prospective recruits on December 15, 2025.
In July 2026, the commission released the list of successful candidates following the various stages of the recruitment process.
On August 6, 2026, the PSC formally handed over the 50,000 newly recruited constables to the NPF for training at approved institutions.
The police noted that the disclaimer is aimed at preventing confusion among the recruits as preparations for their training continue.
The Force advised applicants and members of the public to verify any information concerning the recruitment exercise before acting on or sharing it, warning that unverified announcements could mislead prospective recruits.
