civic technology platform, MonITNG, has raised concerns over the deteriorating condition of Kwamba Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Suleja Local Government Area of Niger State, despite the state receiving N48.37 billion in Federal Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) funds between January and March 2026.

MonITNG raised the concerns in a post on X on Sunday while calling on Niger State Governor Mohammed Umar Bago and relevant authorities to urgently intervene.

The platform said the facility serves a community of more than 1,000 residents but appeared to be in a state of neglect.

“This is Kwamba Primary Health Centre in Suleja LGA, Niger State, a facility serving a community of over a thousand residents. It is difficult to believe that this is a functioning Primary Health Centre in 2026,” MonITNG said.

According to the platform, patients at the facility were being treated on old, torn and badly stained mattresses, while some of the beds were visibly worn out.

It also raised concerns about the condition of the wards and other parts of the facility, saying the situation raised questions about the quality of healthcare available to residents.

“The toilet facility is another disturbing reality. Dirty and heavily stained walls, stagnant water and poor sanitation create an environment that could expose patients and health workers to further health risks,” it said.

MonITNG said the facility lacked basic infrastructure and equipment expected of a functional PHC, adding that the condition of its furniture, beds and other visible items suggested years of neglect.

It questioned the level of investment in basic healthcare in the state, given the N48.37 billion received in FAAC allocations during the first three months of 2026.

“With billions of naira accruing to the state in just three months, residents have every right to ask: where is the investment in basic healthcare?” the platform asked.

MonITNG said residents were not demanding luxury but basic healthcare infrastructure, including clean toilets, safe beds, essential medical equipment, a decent working environment and adequate personnel.

It noted that the facility serves mothers seeking treatment for their children, pregnant women requiring maternal healthcare, elderly residents and other people who may not be able to afford private hospitals.

The platform called on the Niger State Government, the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare and Suleja LGA authorities to urgently inspect the facility.

It also demanded the renovation of the health centre, replacement of damaged beds and mattresses, improved sanitation, provision of essential medical equipment and adequate staffing.

“The people of Kwamba deserve healthcare with dignity. Their lives should not depend on a PHC that government has forgotten,” MonITNG said.
