Young Nigerian man has taken his protest against the rising cost of living to the streets, going from neighbourhood to neighbourhood to inform residents about the latest increase in the price of petrol and urging Nigerians not to vote for President Bola Tinubu in 2027.

The man, who carried a mobile loudspeaker and microphone while speaking in Hausa, was seen moving from street to street, addressing residents and lamenting the worsening economic hardship under the administration of President Tinubu.

In a video obtained by SaharaReporters, the man could be heard repeatedly telling residents that Nigerians were tired of the government, while drawing attention to the reported increase in the price of petrol to ₦1,562 per litre.

He said the latest fuel price increase was another indication of the hardship Nigerians were facing, adding that people were now struggling with rising costs even before leaving their homes.

“Today, we woke up to the news that fuel has become more expensive, now selling at ₦1,562 per litre, even before we have gone anywhere,” the man said.

“We are going around informing the people because we are tired of Tinubu’s government. That is why we are going from neighbourhood to neighbourhood, so that we can also enlighten the people who may not be aware.”

The man, who used the microphone to address residents as he moved around the community, repeatedly announced the new petrol price and called on Nigerians to pay attention to the economic situation in the country.

“A litre of fuel has now increased to ₦1,562. We are tired of Tinubu’s government,” he said.

He also urged Nigerians to reject President Tinubu at the polls, saying the rising cost of petrol and other economic difficulties were among the issues citizens should consider when deciding who to support politically.

“This is why we are going from house to house, telling everyone not to vote for Tinubu,” he said.

“These are the issues we are talking about; this is not something that should be ignored.”

Questioning the affordability of petrol for ordinary Nigerians, the man asked whether the price had not become excessive, particularly as many Nigerians were already struggling to cope with the cost of transportation and other basic necessities.

“A litre of fuel is now ₦1,562. Has fuel not become too expensive, even though we have not gone anywhere?” he asked.

“This is why we are going around, telling people about what is happening. We are entering every corner and every street to spread the message.”

The man said the purpose of the street-to-street campaign was to ensure that residents were informed about the latest development and the economic difficulties being experienced by Nigerians.

He maintained that the rising price of petrol was directly affecting ordinary citizens and said Nigerians needed to be aware of the situation ahead of future elections.

“So, let everyone know that we are tired of this government,” he said.

“Hardship today, hardship tomorrow—where are we going to find relief?”

The video captures the growing frustration among some Nigerians over the rising cost of living, particularly the increasing price of petrol since the Tinubu administration announced the removal of the fuel subsidy in 2023.

The development has continued to fuel public concerns over transportation costs, food prices and other living expenses, with many Nigerians complaining that their incomes have failed to keep pace with the rising cost of basic commodities.

The man’s street-to-street campaign reflects the anger being expressed by some citizens over the economic situation, with his message centred on the rising price of petrol and his call for Nigerians to reject Tinubu at the polls.
